Week 1

Isabel Teixeira is an EFL teacher who has worked in a public language center called CILT (Centro Interescolar de Línguas de Taguatinga) in the capital of Brazil, Brasília, since 1998. Isabel  has  worked with online collaborative projects with iEARN ( International Education and Resource Network ) since 2000 and has had the opportunity to visit different countries, such as Japan, the USA, Slovakia, Holland, Egypt, and Morocco to meet other online educators in international conferences. In addition, she has been taking EVO sessions since 2006. Last year, she also took an online postgraduate course focusing on art, technology, and education at the University of Brasília.

Anisoara Pop. Hello and my heartfelt thank you to the EVO group of trainers, coordinators and moderators, to Dafne and Teresa who have been helping me ever since January 09 when I first encountered the Bawers and started “growing techological wings”. I have been teaching English for 22 years and Business English for 11 years at Dimitrie Cantemir University of Targu Mures, Romania. I hold a PhD in linguistics and present at different national and international events in the field.I can honestly acknowledge that I owe Baw2009 everything I have been using and exploring with technology: personal and class blogs (I am really happy about this recently created one:http://www.English4usdc1.blogspot.com for my first year students), wikis, VoxOpop and Vaestro, and I initiated a yahoo group for Romanian ESP teachers in higher education (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ESP-RO). I have started a passion for exploring new paths of rekindling my students’  motivation through technology-based English language learning and have spread the news about this opportunity to all the events I have attended. Of course, there’s necessary to continuously develop in this open-ended field, that’s why I am here to learn from and with this group of dedicated professionals.

Week 2

Hello Everyone,
My name is Jose Antonio. I am an EFL teacher living in Brasilia, Brazil.
I have been a co-moderator in BaW for some time and I it is always a pleasure to join  Dafne, Teresa,   and this enthusiastic group of educators once more.
I have been teaching English for almosl 20 years and I love what I do. In the
school where I teach, I am proud to say that we now have a large group of
teachers engaged with technology in one way or another. We have been using IWBs
for around two years and now, with instalation of data show in some classess,
more teachers have joined us in the enthusiasm of technology use in class.
I am part of the Edtech team in school and little by little we are seein the
results of our job as our department on distance learning seems to be expanding
and our teachers start integrating technology into their classes. I see this
process as a slow, step by step one. However, I am part of big online community
of educators who keeps me inspired and help me "contaminate" my fellow teachers
and spread the enthusiasm I have in relation to integrating technology into
teaching and learning.
Warm hugs from Brazil
Jose Antonio

Hello,

I am still really excited to receive an invitation from my dear friend Teresa Almeida d'Eca recently - to work in BaW10.

Currently, I am a PhD student in Educational Technology Program in Purdue University in Indiana. This is my fourth year here - and I hope to gradaute soon. At the same time, I am teaching EFl/ESP in my home university in the city of Yakutsk in Northern Siberia in Russia.

I've been involved into EVO TESOL since 2001 when my friend Christine Meloni from GWU and I collaborated between two cities in the USA and Siberia. It was in St.Louis. Since that time, I try to attend all EVO sessions, and in 2008 I participated in the EVO Showcase.

I teach EFL Writing/Reading and Business English both online and in hybrid. Also, I am doing teachers' training how to use technologies in classroom online and in f2f environment. My research interest is the impact of new technologies on students' critical thinking, and one of them is using audiofeedback as an effective instructinal strategy to impact learning.

I am looking forward to having this new experience to work as a moderator - never think about that before, thanks Teresa to give me this great opportunity -

Week 4

I´m Dennis Olilver. I live in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. I received a BS in Music Education from Illinois State University in 1967, but a few years later, I decided to change careers and took extra courses, then entered the English Literature and Rhetoric program at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. I soon learned, however, that there were few jobs at the MA/doctoral level for English teachers, so I changed again-to EFL/Applied Linguistics. After receiving my MA (with post-MA coursework in syntax, phonology, and dialectoloty). I began my ELT career; it lasted more than 35 years and included work in teaching (both F2F and online), teacher training, textbook editing, desktop publishing, and program administration-all with an ESL/EFL orientation and often involving Net-based technology. I am no longer teaching, but I remain committed to international-intercultural computer-mediated teaching and learning. I´ve known about the Webheads since the 1990´s, but I did not join until much later; that happened only because of the support and encouragement that I received from Dafne and Teresa.
In week 4, I will work with Evelyn Izquierdo. We´ll focus on use of Voice Tools.

Evelyn Izquierdo

Hi! My name is Evelyn Izquierdo. I’m an ESP/EAP teacher at the School of Education of Universidad Central de Venezuela. I hold a master degree in EFL, and I have been interested in online activities since I joined Becoming a Webhead 2005. After that my teaching life changed for the best. Nowadays, almost all my courses are blended, and a few of them totally online under the Moodle platform. I’ve been attending several EVO sessions since 2005, both as a participant and as a session moderator. It is a must to attend EVO sessions each year if you want to learn a lot, keep updated, share your online work and experiences, enjoy with hands-on activities and have fun with colleagues. Last year, I offered a session called Blog-based lessons and e-portfolios along with my Avealmec collegues Teadira Pérez and Miguel Mendoza. This year, I'll be part of the BAW10 team. I'll be sharing the moderation in Week 4 with my dearest Webhead friend, Dennis Oliver.
